Preity Zinta is... Sonia Gandhi...

ummm... almost.

Preity3_2Salaam Namaste star Preity Zinta is said to be the fore runner to portray Sonia Gandhi, widely considered to be one of India's most powerful ever females. The film which is as yet untitled is set to be directed by Jagmohan Mundhra, who's earlier efforts include the Aishwarya Rai starrer Provoked (which was OK) as well as a host of movies that have suspiciously porn-like names (Improper Conduct, Sexual Malice and Night Eyes).

Speaking to a news daily, Mundra said,

“Of all the Bollywood stars, it’s Preity who comes closest to looking like Sonia Gandhi."

Mundra has reportedly signed on Italian hottie Monica Belucci to portray Sonia Gandhi's older sister.

...

Meh. I'm finding it very hard to accept Preity Zinta as a "serious actress." I mean... sure, lot's of ladies in Hollywood have started out with fluff and gone on to become respected actresses... But... The Hollywood ladies didn't ever get a chance to do a jig with a semi-naked 40 year old man (*cough* Salman Khan *cough*).

In my opinion once you do that, you may as well kiss your career as a serious actress goodbye. Especially when you can't really act.

Which is not a criticism of Preity. It's a criticism of Bollywood. And Salman Khan.
