Farhan Akhtar’s directorial skills need no introduction. Now he has gone on to reveal another aspect of his multi-faceted personality with the film “Rock On.” He has decided to move to the front of the camera in the film. He has proved that he is as good in front of the camera as he is behind. Making his 
singing and acting debut in the much awaited film is Farhan Akhtar. He says that added the required realistic aspect to the character that he plays.
My director Abhishek Kapoor was very clear that whoever plays the lead singer of the band in the movie should sing the songs himself. If the character is about a singer and the songs are being dubbed then it looks a bit fake," says Farhan when asked about his role in the film. "It is the authenticity factor that comes in between. However, my singing worked really well in context to the movie.”
The story of the film is based on music and friendship. The story of a group of four friends and their dream of putting together a rock band of their own and the ups and downs of life that they have to face. Well supported by actors like Arjun Rampal, Luke Kenny, Shahana Goswami, Prachi Desai and Koel Puri, the film is about the dreams and desires of today’s generation. With films like “DilChahta and Lakshya” to his credit nothing less was expected from the likes of Farhan Akhtar. He lend his voice to 6 songs of the film and has undoubtedly put in his very best.
