The spin bowler who created magic on the field and has a huge fan following is now all set to make his Bollywood debut. The captain of the Indian test side, Anil Kumble is the latest to be bitten by the acting bug. He is making his debut with a film under the PNC or the Pritish Nandy Communications banner. PNC is the place to watch out for some action in the coming days, with the father/daughter duo (Pritish and Rangita Nandy) having mastered the perfect formula for success. Their latest “Ugly Aur Pagli” starring Mallika sherawat and Ranvir Shourey looks great in the promos and does create an interest to visit the theatres.
Coming back to our cricketer turned actor, his debut film is titled “Meerabai Not Out”. The cricketer is playing himself in the film and says “the film revolves around cricket and a particular cricketer which happens to be me. So I am essentially playing myself. That’s why I agreed to do the film.”
The character , Meera, Kumble’s co-star in the film is played by none other than our sizzling cricketing sensation, Mandira Bedi. The story revolves around Meera’s love for cricket and the cricketer and the ups and downs and twists and turns associated with her fixation. On being asked about Kumble’s performance, Nandy says “He is as cool in front of the camera as he is on the field. His strength both in cricket and in movies, is his easy going manner.”
Hope this spinner is able to recreate his onfield magic and turn this into a money spinner and get the fans to visit the theatres.
