Katrina Kaif is “Heroine No.1”

With back to back hits and the very latest “Singh is Kinng,” Katrina sure has displaced a lot of actors and moved on to the number one slot. From “Namastey London” there has been actually been no looking back for the actress. She has gone much above the expectations of her fans and her films “Apne”, “Partner,” “Welcome” and “Race” have all proved that this sweet looking doll faced beauty is undoubtedly the hot favorite with the cine-goers.

Katrina’s success has got her a line of film offers and also endorsements. She has been the face of “Veet”, the hair removal cream. Katrina’s success has let her step into Miss World (the Bachchan bahu) Aishwarya Rai’s shoes. Yes, Katrina is the new brand ambassador of the diamond jewelry brand “Nakshatra” and has replaced Aishwarya.

With several of her films slated for release in the coming months, the expectations sure are high. Subhash Ghai’s “Yuvraj” starring the actress is to release this October. Another big budget film of hers that would come soon is Rajkumar Santoshi’s “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” opposite the new sensation “Ranbir Kapoor.”

Katrina is the current hot favorite in Bollywood. She sure has everything going her way. Make the most of it girl (a hardworking, absolutely professional and focused attitude is what makes her different), you deserve every bit of it.

Madhur Bhandarkar on the “Fashion” scene

“Fashion”, Madhur Bhandarkar’s next, already has people speculating over it. Madhur Bhandarkar has this reputation of making films that are close to reality and deals with issues from the society. His latest film actually has a whole galaxy of stars. The film has got the whos who of the fashion industry with top designers, models and actors being roped in.

The film provides an insight into the gliterring world of fashion. The latest addition to the film includes Konkana sen and her boyfriend Ranvir Shourey (for those who came in late, rumors have it that they are all set to tie the knot by the end of this year). Konkana Sen is Madhur Bhandarkar’s “lucky mascot” and so he has got the couple to do a cameo for his film. This is not the end. Fans would be delighted that there are whole lot of other celebrities who are doing cameos for “Fashion”. This includes Karan Johar, Arbaaz Khan, Prahlad Kakkar, The handsome Neil Nitin Mukesh and several others.

The film sure is buzzing with celebrity presence and is all set for an October 29^th release. Will star power be able to make a positive contribution to the film at the box office? This is one where we need to wait and watch.

"Chamku" - another disaster for Priyanka Chopra

“Chamku,” the latest release starring Priyanka Chopra and Bobby Deol has proved to be a total disaster. Right from the title there seems to be a lot that is wrong with the film. The title suggests a comedy, however, the film is just the opposite of what you did expect from a film with such a name. According to Bobby (when asked about the name of the film) "I thought 'Chamku' was just a working title. But it's my character's name. And it completely fits in."

Priyanka Chopra in the film plays a total girl next door role, deglamourized and all. According to Bobby Deol, "Priyanka is a sweetheart. She plays a deglamourized role in “Chamku.” Most heroines wouldn't want to get into that deglamourous space, especially in a film that's driven by my character, but she agreed". The film is a violent story of how a man from Bihar driven by circumstances is forced to become a Naxal. The lighter half (minus the violence) is the love story part of the film.

The film is yet another in Priyanka’s line of flops. Her forthcoming film “Fashion” if it doesn't do well would probably put an end to a glittery future for Priyanka. If she another flop or two there would be any in the industry who would be scared to touch her with a barge pole (no pun intended). Priyanka better put in an extra effort at choosing her roles and films, this is especially true after her “Lovestory 2050.”

Sallu making amends

Salman Khan is turning over a new leaf. The actor, known for his alcohol-fueled temper, seems to be fixing bridges all over Bollywood. His most recent olive branch extension was to the Bachchans. Sallu had been in a long term relationship with Aishwarya Rai but after it ended, the accusations flowed fast on Salman's character and relations with the underworld, particularly from Ash's then-boyfriend Vivek Oberoi.

The Bachchan's have not been too friendly with Salman either after Ash and Abhishek married but Sallu seems to want to rectify this.

Salman recently visited Abhishek on set and had a long conversation with him in his vanity van, with sources saying that Salman (who's an amateur painter) offering to make posters for Abhi's new film Drona. The source reports that while Sallu was in Abhi's van, Abhi showed him promotional material for Drona which he had on his laptop and Salman asked if it would be OK to paint one of the posters. Abhishek was very pleased with the offer and was on-board for the painting.

So has Salman really tried to sort things out? Or is he dividing Bollywood up for when he has his big showdown with Shah Rukh Khan?

Madhuri is so done with Bollywood

I mean, we know that already but any Madhuri Dixit fans who were hoping that she might want to come back to the industry are very much mistaken. Madhuri was last seen during the 'Unforgettable Tour' with the Bachchans, but she says that it was no indication that she misses Bollywood.

Although comeback venture Aaja Nachle bombed, Madhuri doesn't think that it's the reason why she's gone into retirement. The actress, star of multiple Bollywood hits including Devdas and Dil To Pagal Hai, likes the anonymity that living overseas gives her.

Although she still loves to dance, which fueled her decision to perform on some steps of the 'Unforgettable Tour' but acting is something that she's done with. So, sorry to all the Madhuri fans, but if you had wanted her to stay, you would have gone and watched Aaja Nachle more than once to pick up sales.

She says,

"When I was growing I led a normal life, even after I became an actress, my family life didn't change much. Here in America, too, I lead a normal life. I walk around, shop, and do groceries, like anybody else. I love and enjoy the anonymity."

In India, she was the Madhuri Dixit. In America, she's just that Indian Lady. Well, whatever makes her happy.

The internet works for Aamir

Unlike Yash Raj (who pathetically delete all unofficial videos of their movies from YouTube), Aamir Khan wants to manifest the power of the internet to promote his new movies. Ghajni, which is due to be released on the 25th of December is obviously having all it's marketing planned out.

Aamir has insisted however, that Ghajni will not be constrained to TV ads and promos alone, but a big part of it's publicity will be aimed at the internet. Interactive videos will be made specifically to watch online and Aamir is thinking of setting up a mobile site, so even cellphones with GPRS and 3G technology can have access to new Ghajni material.

We don't know if Aamir will do his usual insulting blog posts before the release of the movie, that disses other actors or movies, just to gain publicity (don't deny it, you know Aamir flames for the response). But he will definitely be using the internet for all the publicity, since 73% of the Indian population prefer using the internet to sitting in front of the TV. Yep, I did just make that statistic up but you can see where Aamir is planning to go with this.

Ghajni also stars Jiah Khan and is about a forgetful man (well, he has amnesia) who is trying to work out who his wife's killers are...except, you know, he forgot all the events that happened after the murder, which makes it harder for him to be a detective.

FInally, I'd like to propound my theory about Yash Raj not using the internet more. Maybe if they stopped deleting song videos from YouTube, someone actually might want to watch their films, just from the music video. So Yash Raj's demise is completely their own fault because they don't use YouTube...and because they make stupid movies.

Kareena is one of the idiots

I just had to put that in. You can't act in a movie called 3 Idiots and not expect to made fun of.

Aamir Khan's new movie, the aforementioned 3 Idiots has hit the floor already when shooting began  recently. The movie also stars Boman Irani, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan. By the way, who ever heard of a guy with a one word name? You're not Kajol!

And speaking of Kajol. The female lead role was hers but because of dating conflicts, she couldn't accept it and it went to Kareena.

The movie will be directed by Rajkumar Hirani of Munnabhai fame and is supposed to be based on the book '5 Point Someone', a story about 3 college guys (Joshi, Khan and Madhavan) who are sick and tired of the marking system at their college, which they think is unfair. Obviously one guy will have to mess around with the evil lecturer's daughter (Irani and Kapoor respectively) but I'm guessing the movie ends happily ever after?

Hirani began shooting by using a real plane to shoot a shot for Madhavan's character and while I really liked Munnabhai, Hirani has to lay off the 'we're already flying high' puns. Not funny, just annoying.

While I respect Aamir Khan's decisions to picking movie, the idea of him playing a 20-something college student is laughable. Now who's the idiot?

Salman Khan is dying...

Ha! Not really. I just wanted to jazz it up a bit. Because... Y'know... Who cares if Salman Khan got food poisoning and is vomiting? He's like... 50 anyway. That's what 50 year olds do. They vomit and get old.

Anyway.

Salman Khan has got food poisoning and is holding up the shooting for his upcoming movie, Yuvraaj, due to his... ahem... Stomach problems (i.e. He's vomiting like Linda Blair in The Exorcist... Or like Tara Reid in real life).

A source says,

"Salman was not feeling well on his arrival on sets so he was resting for a while before starting his shooting."

"But then as he started vomiting continously, he decided it was pack up time for him for the day. He left the sets immediately to go home and take rest. It was a result of a stomach upset as he was heard saying so to the production members."
"Only a few days of shoot for Yuvraaj is left as the film is almost complete. But now with Salman's participation being a must in it, the shooting has been completely stopped until he gets well and ready to shoot. It may now happen in next month only."

Meh. It's just going to be a movie in which Salman Khan plays himself. Really loudly. And then he gets into "hilarious" scrapes stolen frame by frame from some mainstream Hollywood movie. After which he falls over repeatedly. At the end of the movie he learns an important lesson (Usually on controlling his anger), after which a girl who is young enough to be his daughter decides that he is definitely the man of her dreams. Apparently most 20 year olds dream of 50 year old men with thinning hair, bags under their eyes, pierced belly buttons and rapidly declining libido's.

...So basically like every Salman Khan movie of the last 10 years.

I genuinely believe that Salman Khan should stop making movies. Instead he can sit at home and re-release Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya every year with a different title.

Maybe Salman is compensating for something...

When he decided to shoot a very expensive song for his new film Veer.

Salman Khan is still branching out (first it was painting, then charities, now this) and has written a song for Veer. In a tribute to his great talent, director Anil Sharma set aside 3.5 crore (35 million) rupees for the shooting of the song that involves 600 junior artists.

The song took 11 days to shoot and also included Sohail Khan and Mithun Chakraborty, although the name of the new actress starring with Salman is still being kept a secret. Since Sallu wrote the song, he contributed a lot to its conceptualization and was on set for the entire 11 days, even when his scenes weren't being shot.

The whopper of a cash bundle set aside for the song makes it the most costliest song ever recorded in Bollywood, even beating out Jodha-Akbar's 'Azeemoshaan Shahenshah' which used to be the most expensive.

No one knows yet what Veer is about, but after God Tussi Great Ho and the assumed flop that will be Yuvraaj, Sallu will be hoping for a hit to save his floundering career.

Salman Khan wants to get married... Katrina Kaif laughs...

Bollywood's eternal bachelor has reached that stage of his life where you get two options,

1) Get cats. Hire hookers and/or gold-diggers. Die alone in a pool of your own drool and phlegm.
2) Marry a gold-digger. Have kids. Die happy in the knowledge that you'll be leaving those disgusting children of yours behind.

Salman Khan has (quite stupidly) decided to go with option 2. After being harangued about his marriage arrangements for the last 10 years, Salman has announced that he will get married next year and plans to introduce his spawn into the world ASAP.

He says,

"I will marry next year, I’m settling down in 2009 and would like to become a father immediately."

Awesome! However it would've been even more awesome, had he told his girlfriend that he would be making her his wife within the next 6 months.

When Singh is Kinng star, Katrina Kaif was told of Salman Khan's wedding plans she reacted with something approaching shock. And then she tried to laugh it off saying,

"I think Salman said whatever he wanted to say. Let people make of it whatever they want. I have never commented on the personal side in the media. I don't wish to start right now."

God, I hope these two get married. If only to get Katrina Kaif-Akshay Kumar jodi away from Bollywood. If I have to watch another movie of those two retards "acting"... I'll... I'll... Probably turn it off. Like I always do. Then watch it in five minute bursts. So as not scratch off my face due to the terrible acting.

This is obviously going on the presumption that Salman Khan forces Katrina Kaif to retire post-marriage. But I don't think there's any doubt he'll do that. Y'know... Because... It's Salman Khan. It's what he does.
